This new Airdrive Design technological concept will foreshadow the future of Daiwa reels, and this first page of a new era opens with the 22 EXIST!
The development of this new reel was based on a separation of the product into two different units. The rear part of the reel, the frame, is based on know-how mastered by Daiwa since the introduction of the Monocoque and Tough Digigear technologies, essential for robustness and reliability. The front end of the reel has been completely redesigned and the Airdrive Design concept created around the key parts of the rotor, the basket handle, the spool and the axle.
The Airdrive Rotor, the work on the shape of the rotor, increases the resistance of this key part, while lightening the reel and reducing its rotational inertia by 16% compared to the previous version.
The Airdrive Bail: the sturdiness of Airbail basket handles has always been a point strength at Daiwa. On the new 22 EXIST, several components of the bail have been redesigned. The diameter of the hollow up pick has been reduced by 30%, its angle reworked to make line engagement more fluid, and the roller has an additional groove to better center line distribution and limit twisting (Twist Buster III).
The Airdrive Spool: the spool is always a decisive element in appreciating the design of a reel, a reflection of its character. On this version of the flagship of the Daiwa range, the spool is lighter, has a shoulder on the bottom to limit the risk of line engagement on the spindle and is equipped with a new evolution of the ATD-L braking system, as well as a new, louder-sounding pawl.
Airdive Shaft: the vertical rotational force coming from the crank is converted by the pinion into horizontal force. The axis passing through the pinion supports the coil's oscillation. These exchanges of stresses are crucial and represent an challenge engineering challenge to achieve smooth operation. The floating axle is now supported by a pinion whose ends are fitted with bearings to ensure better transmission without loss of power, and collars to ensure silence.
