We've added strong compression, especially around the core. We've applied a selection of fabrics, hydrophobic by nature, that perform by being "tight" in all the right places. This has the effect of shifting the center of buoyancy. If you do this, while reducing surface drag and lowering the cross-sectional area of your body, you swim faster. By doing so, we can reduce energy wastage and improve swimming efficiency by up to 4.5 seconds per 100 meters. As in the case of a wetsuit, the gains are all the greater the less elite you are. Yes, elite swimmers will gain a lot of time over 100 meters, but average swimmers will benefit from even greater time savings.
