The new Kombat Boots were designed by Danny Fairbrass to replicate the high-end walking shoes he used to wear for fishing, but with the inclusion of a few extra features to make them perfect for anglers, and without such a hefty price tag.
They have been designed with comfort and functionality in mind, while retaining a certain style. They have excellent waterproof qualities, which is essential when walking through wet grass or stepping into shallow water or puddles, as wet feet quickly become an ordeal and can ruin your session. The soles have been designed with parameters such as grip and durability in mind, offering superb grip on the types of surfaces you're likely to encounter when out fishing, and will prevent you from an unfortunate slip.
Kombat shoes are also perfect for walking long distances. They offer support without being stiff, and you won't even feel you're wearing them! Many walking shoes can be difficult to get on and off quickly, but these have been designed specifically for anglers and open wide so they can be slipped on quickly when you have a touch in the middle of the night. Another problem with some walking shoes is that the laces keep coming undone, which not only means you have to stop to re-tie them, but also that they drag in the mud and can trip you up, but Kombat shoes have a flat lace design to ensure this doesn't happen and that they stay securely tied.
Danny Fairbrass explains, "They're inspired by a high-end walking shoe I bought at Italie a few years ago for a lot more than these. They have a leather part and a waterproof membrane inside, so you can stay in the water if you want to. People always ask if they're warm - no, they're not warm, because they're not supposed to be, because they're supposed to be waterproof and have good grip, but wearing them with a combination of our waterproof and merino socks will keep your feet warm inside."
