The Mayhem 3.0 is a brand new template. As the trend with modern high-performance shortboards is to have more curves under the back foot for critical pocket surfing, we felt the need to see the fins evolve with the contours of the board. We wanted to add a bit more base, more rake, and a narrower tip than on our previous Thruster model.
The idea with the base and rake is to have more resistance and bite when diving deep into turns, while maintaining drive through tight turn arcs. The reduced tip area with a tapered flex offers more release and freedom for quick transitions in and out of turns when needed. We took these fins to wave pools for controlled and repeatable testing, and we also worked with our elite surfer crew of different sizes to get feedback and input.
