Your leash offers security; you need to be able to rely on it.
There are the following types:
From the Competition Leash (suitable only for light boards and small waves), to the Regular Leash (versatile leashes for all types of boards and conditions), up to the Big Wave Leash (extra thick leashes for SUP boards or extreme conditions; these leashes are stiffer and heavier and are not recommended as versatile leashes).
The length of the leash depends on the length of the board.
The leash should be at most 5-6 inches longer or shorter than the board:
6 feet leash = 5.6 - 6.6 feet board length
7 feet leash = 6.6 - 7.6 feet board length
8 feet leash = 7.6 - 8.6 feet board length
9 feet leash = 8.6 - 9.6 feet board length
10 feet leash = 9.6 - 10.6 feet board length
