Description
In 1987 Giuliana Rosset, a Valle d'Aostan whose family owns the oldest distillery in the region, the Saint-Roch, took over Green Sport Monte Bianco, a small backpack company, from a few Turin craftsmen. She moved the headquarters to the outskirts of Aosta, to Quart, initially producing backpacks and travel bags with about 15 employees, and then expanding into the field of sportswear in which bright colors are abandoned. Consulting books and old maps of Northern Europe, the idea of the brand Napapijri was born, a name derived from a mispronunciation of napapiiri, a Finnish word meaning polar circle. The Norwegian flag is sewn prominently on the jackets, the logo is in black and white, half positive and half negative, to give the idea of the north and south poles.
